Manny Pacquiao Vs Floyd Mayweather May 2 Fight Date Cancelled After Bob Arum Says No? Freddie Roach And Team Pacquiao Agrees With The Date But Top Rank CEO Doesn't

The much anticipated Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight on May 2 may not happen after all after Bob Arum reiterates the need for the May 2 date to feature Mexican boxers.

Top Rank CEO, Bob Arum, feels that the May 2 date should be reserved for Mexican fighters only and that the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight being on that date is "disrespectful" to Mexican fighters.

"May 2, that Cinco De Mayo weekend, is a Mexican holiday. It is a big Mexican-American holiday. It's a fight date being talked about for Mayweather, Pacquiao, even Cotto, but they're not Mexicans or even Mexican-Americans. The only Mexican who is a draw on that date is Canelo." said Bob Arum to Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper in a recent interview.

It should be noted though that Bob Arum is the only one who is against the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight date to be on May 2 as Freddie Roach agrees that it is the perfect date to the fight when asked about whether he agrees on the May 2 fight date:

"I am. It needs to happen for both guys," Roach said in an interview with Michelle Beadle on HBO's The Fight Game. "I think we waited long enough."

"I can't wait to get ready for Floyd," he said.

"He is a challenge. I have a great fighter but we have to fight the perfect fight to win this fight," said the boxing hall of famer.

"We'll do certain things, be a little meaner and be a little more feisty."

Was Floyd Mayweather right when he said that Bob Arum would be the obstacle in the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather super fight? What do you think? Sound off in the comments below!
