Philippine couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera wedded last December 30, 2014. According to Mirror, the high profile couple might own the world's biggest cake to be used in a wedding ceremony to date which stands 12 feet high and weighed 120 kilos. GMA Network described it as a "five-tiered wedding cake standing over twelve-feet tall." Philippine Entertainment Portal noted that it was carried by ten people to the reception venue, the Mall of Asia Arena.
ABC News reported that Dantes and Rivera's 3-D wedding cake, adorned with Swarovski crystals and butterfly, was made by Goldilocks, a pastry company endorsed by Dingdong, according to a "TheDongYanatics" Instagram post.
The post also revealed that the cake was made for a month. The snapshot was captioned: "This 3D mapped cake for #DM123014 is beyond words! According to Pinky Yee of Goldilocks, it took them 1 month to make this and that it was @dongdantes' idea☺ (by cristallebelo) #dingdongdantes #marianrivera #DongYanWedding #dongyan"
According to the Mirror, this could be the largest cake to be ever made for a wedding. Reportedly, the "Guinness Book of World Records currently awards the accolade of "biggest wedding cake ever" to a six ton masterpiece made in New England, USA, in 2004, but the three biggest wedding cakes ever made were made for presentation purposes only, and not for an actual wedding."
The Guinness World's Record website cited that "The current record-holder for the world's largest wedding cake is a 15,032 pounds made by chefs at the Mohegan Sun Hotel and Casino in Connecticut and displayed at their New England bridal showcase in 2004."
The couple's wedding reception was held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines. It has a capacity of 15,000 seated and a "full house" capacity of 20,000 as described in the venue's website.
Dindong and Marian are Filipino actors whose wedding were called by many in their home country as the "royal wedding."
