Could fans expect any Portal 3 release date announcements soon?

Several reports have claimed that Valve might be interested to produce the highly anticipated follow-up. However, with Valve founder Gabe Newell's announcement that Half Life 3 is not in anyway in development, it could be highly possible that another Portal game will be a far-fetched idea.

As a previous Portal 3 release date update from Kpopstarz said, "Rumors went around before the E3 2014 event earlier this year, that Valve would announce a lineup of new games including Portal 3, Left 4 Dead, a new Team Fortress and the new Half Life 3 but as days went by and the event passed by, nothing happened, no talks or any signs about the game surfaced."

Several gaming sites have suggested that fans of the franchise should just stop waiting for any Half Life 3 and Portal 3 release date announcements, because it probably will not ever materialize.

As Movie Pilot reported, "Wouldn't we have more concrete information about these titles if they were in fact in existence? It seems like we'd have more to go on than just speculation and rumours. Thankfully, these are two studios with equal reputations for perfection. They are hardly going to release an unfinished product, and we love them for that (looking at you Ubisoft)!"

"Therefore, no amount of fan pressure is likely to persuade them to make a game, if anything, they seem to be more annoyed by our constant pleading (but we waaaant it). But the fact remains that gamers are desperately seeking for excellent games for the PCs, Xbox One or PS4 consoles. We haven't been getting anything that fantastic as of late..."

The only hope the 3rd installments could ever be released is if Valve decides to outsource the game to a different developer.

JBG News reported that in Dan Amrich's (Ubisoft San Francisco community developer) interview with IGN, he mentioned that Valve should just let someone else do it if they're uninterested to keep the franchise alive.

"According to him, Valve might want to look towards Gearbox if they'd want to follow this path. Gearbox did handle the two expansions of the original Half Life (Blue Shift and Opposing Force), both of which were quite good and are considered canon," the side said.

Stay tuned for more news about the Portal 3 release date.
