3-Week Old Baby Found Dead In Trash After Shooting Of Parents: 'Very Personal' Motive For Suspected Murder?

A 3-week-old baby was reportedly abducted after the shooting of her parents and uncle at a Southern California home, according to the news outlet KOB 4.

The baby, a 10-pound girl named Eliza Delacruz, was reportedly found dead on Sunday in a trash bin in Imperial Beach, about 120 miles south of where the shooting of her relatives occurred.

The San Diego medical examiner’s office reportedly stated that it was unknown where or when the infant died before her body was found in the trash bin.

The Long Beach residence where the shooting took place reportedly showed no signs of forced entry and nothing was taken, homicide Lt. Lloyd Cox told the Long Beach Press-Telegram on Sunday, according to the Associated Press. Long Beach detectives reportedly believe the family was targeted for some unknown reason.

“We believe that this is not a random act. We are going through the backgrounds of all the individuals who live here, but it appears to be very personal,” explained Cox.

The baby’s father was reportedly released from the hospital on Sunday while the infant’s mother and uncle remained hospitalized and were listed in critical condition late Sunday. Their names have reportedly not been released.

The police have reportedly reached out to the public for help in regards to finding the suspect. The police reportedly defended their decision not to issue an Amber Alert for the baby after the infant was found in a trash bin.

“One of the criteria for that is having a license plate number. We don’t even have that,” explained police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

She added, “We’re really making push today for people to come forward, to call us or send tips to our anonymous hotline. We really need the public’s help.”
