"Thor 3: Ragnarok" updates get more and more interesting.
For starters, it has been speculated that Asgard will come to an end in "Thor 3 Ragnarok" as a part of the "apocalyptic comic book story of Ragnarok." Thor will reportedly meet his end in this plot and will eventually pave the way for the "Avengers Disassemble" storyline.
But as new reports suggest, a lot can happen before "Thor 3" premieres on the big screen. According to JBG News, "Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, there are two years between Avengers: Age of Ultron and Thor 3, which leaves a lot of time for things to happen. There are still a few more movies to take place before the release of Thor 3, and something could happen within those. Doctor Strange, for example, will release eight months before the next Thor film, and little is known of that story so far."
Many are saying that the new Thor flick will change the MCU drastically, but up until an official plot has been confirmed, fans can only speculate.
As for Odin's fate, no one really knows if the Asgard King is still alive. At the end of "Thor: The Dark World," it has been implied that Loki has killed him and pretended to be him so he can rule over Asgard.
Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige had a few words to say about Loki in an interview with i09.
"I don't know, I think anything is possible... I think It always will depend... In some way, and this gets really nerdy, we look at the development of all of our movies in these phases. We've talked about this before. [Before] The Avengers [was] phase 1. We're in phase 2 right now, that's sort of the over-arching story lines. Some day people can look back at phase 1, phase 2, or phase 3, however long it lasts, and see a whole cinematic universe. But they can also look at the individual franchises and see arcs and turns. And in a strange way Thor, Avengers, and Thor: The Dark World is a Loki trilogy, which I think is cool. In charting the relationship of these two brothers, when we first meet them as little boys listening to a story their father [tells them] that they were both meant to be kings. Which ended up not being true for one of them, and seeing where that takes him in that troubled journey that Loki goes on."
And when asked about Odin: "I would not say that it's safe to say, no. I don't know what Loki did to him."
"Thor 3" is slated for a July 2017 release.
