"Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch and fiancee Sophie Hunter are expecting their first baby together, representatives of the couple confirmed.
The news about the pregnancy came just two months after Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter announced their engagement.
"I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon," the rep told Daily Mail.
The British tabloid said that Sophie Hunter was last snapped in public accompanying "The Imitation Game" actor during the Palm Springs International Film Festival over the weekend. The baby bump wasn't visible in her Just Cavalli dress, although she "kept her clutch in front of her stomach as they posed for photographs."
According to PageSix, which tracked down a source who claimed that "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch and fiancee Sophie Hunter will marry "sooner than expected" because of the Cumberbaby.
"Sophie is a few months along, and both she and Benedict are very excited about it. They are also quietly planning to marry in early spring," the source said.
In November last year, the couple posted an ad on the Times to announce their engagement. The ad read: "The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."
When prodded about the announcement, the 38-year-old actor said that it was a tradition in Britain and it's something he would have done if he wasn't famous.
"Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch said in an interview with Elle Japan that marriage is very important to him especially when he's still young to enjoy fatherhood.
"It's a wonderful thing to get married young and become a father. I used to think that I'd get married by my mid-thirties and have children but now I think I can wait. I'm no longer in a hurry to get married."
