The 87th Academy Awards will air live on February 22 with Neil Patrick Harris as host. Those vying to be part of the Oscars 2015 nominees list are getting closer to finding out if they made it.
According to Deadline, the Academy will announce the nominees for all 24 categories in a two-part live broadcast on the morning of January 15. This will be the first time that the shortlist for all categories will be announced at the same time.
"Each of the three years we've produced the show, we have attempted to refresh elements of the process and the telecast," Oscars producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a press release statement.
"This year, we're honored to start a new tradition that celebrates the contributions of all the nominees by announcing all 24 categories. We're thrilled that a distinguished actor and two world-class film directors are part of the initial launch."
The directors, JJ Abrams and Alfonso Cuaron will reportedly announce the Oscar 2015 nominees for Animated Feature Film, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Film Editing, Documentary Short Subject, Documentary Feature, Original Song, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects and Production Design.
Chris Pine and Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs will then disclose the list for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Costume Design, Directing, Foreign Language Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Original Screenplay, Original Score and Best Picture.
The press conference for the Oscars 2015 nominees will start at 5:30 AM PT on January 15 at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
So far, British actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne as well as Steve Carell are receiving some strong Oscar buzz for their respective biopics. They are also nominated for a Golden Globe trophy.
