K-drama couple Kwon Sang Woo and his wife actress Son Tae Young had their second child, a daughter, on Saturday.
Their first child is a son named Luke or Luk Hee and nicknamed Rookie. He was born in 2009. The couple were introduced through a friend and married in September of 2008.
When the actor first announced his wife's pregnancy in August, he expressed his happiness at the good news and said that he did not Rookie to be an only child.
"I don't know whether my next child will be a son or a daughter but I do want to have another child," said Kwon Sang Woo. "When I see Rookie play alone, I think he needs a sibling."
The actor announced the arrival of his daughter with a note on his fan page.
"I will meet Rookie's sister earlier then scheduled," he wrote. "Thank you for everything."
The baby was not due until February and thus arrived a few weeks early. No complications have been reported.
When Rookie learned that his mother was expecting, he felt it was only fitting that the new baby had a nickname too. He decided to nickname her "Heart."
In 2014 Kwon Sang Woo played the leading role in the drama "Temptation" and was also seen in the film "Chinese Zodiac." He was recently cast in the mystery film "The Detective." In that film he will play a library owner obsessed with mystery fiction.
Former Miss Korea contestant Son Tae Young has appeared in several films and more than a dozen dramas. She stayed home for the first four years of Rookie's life but returned to acting in 2013.
Her most recent dramas were the weekend drama "You're The Best Lee Soon Shin" and the docudrama "Into The Flames." She had a role in the 2014 Chinese romantic comedy film "Love War." Son Tae Young is also a well-known fashionista and hosted several beauty and fashion programs, most recently "Son Tae Young's W Show."
While pregnant Son Tae Young posed for the Korean version of Elle magazine. In an interview with the magazine she talked about the healthy ways she stayed in shape while expecting. The actress maintained a workout regimen throughout her pregnancy and stuck to a sensible diet plan. She has not said how much time she will take off from acting to spend with her daughter.
