Casey Kasem's wife, Jean Kasem, is still facing legal troubles following the death of her husband. According to a report from My News LA, the widow's lawyer fees are still not settled even after the radio star's recent burial in Norway.
Judge Clifford Klein from the Los Angeles Superior Court has explained that he still needs to further assess if Casey Kasem's wife Jean Kasem is legally allowed to object the attorney fees and costs amounting to $350,000. The said fees were reportedly from the processing of her late husband's conservatorship, which she publicly feuded about with adult children from her late DJ's first marriage.
The LA court official shared that the primary evidence of Casey Kasem's wife Jean Kasem was a declaration from her Norway-based lawyer, Kjetil Johansen. The lawyer insisted that the widow is the legal trustee of Casey Kasem's trust, giving her the right to oppose the fees requests filed by her stepchildren.
"(Kjetil Johansen) may be correct, may be brilliant... (because) I can't find standing based on a comment from someone in Norway," Judge Clifford Klein said.
Another lawyer of Casey Kasem's wife also accused the radio star's first family of making a "sideshow" out of the beloved broadcaster's death.
"(We) have conceded by their past actions in this bitter case," attorney Adrian Sawyer said, referring to the numerous legal steps taken by Kerri Kasem and company, which included the legal fees that they reportedly want to reimburse from their late father's trust.
"(Jean Kasem) does have the right to bring objections to the fees requests," the lawyer added.
An earlier report from Yahoo News also announced that Casey Kasem's death will be further investigated by his wife, Jean Kasem,
The "American Top 40" host's children are only too willing to participate as they agreed to provide their stepmother with medical records.
"The Kasem children are happy to provide Mrs. Kasem with all such records in their possession," said a statement issued by Kerri, Mike, and Julie Kasem through their lawyer Troy Martin.
