Woody Allen will be making his first-ever TV series with Amazon Studios, according to ABC News.
Although it would be interesting to see television adaptations of Woody Allen movies, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has yet to know what the series will be about.
“I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this,” stated Woody Allen, according to Philly.com.
Amazon Studios vice president Roy Price seems to have no regrets when it comes to asking Woody Allen to write and direct the episode of the upcoming half-hour series.
“Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series,” stated Price.
He added, “From ‘Annie Hall’ to ‘Blue Jasmine,’ Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.”
Amazon is following in the footsteps of Netflix with the success of its original series “Transparent,” winning two Golden Globes, including best comedy series.
Woody Allen has made more than 40 films since making his directorial debut, “What’s Up Tiger Lily?” in 1966. His latest movie project, “Magic in the Moonlight,” was reportedly released last year.
Allen has won four Oscars and two Golden Globes. He was reportedly presented with the Golden Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award.
