Rumors surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers revealed that the team is gunning for Brandon Jennings and Greg Monroe, as the purple and gold is preparing for a life without its superstar Kobe Bryant.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Los Angeles Lakers are not thinking about tanking as they are still looking to improve, even if it's on pace to having its worst season yet.

The article said that there was the news about the team looking to sign Rajon Rondo, the all-star point guard from Boston Celtics who eventually inked a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Reporter Ramona Shelburne confirmed the Los Angeles Lakers rumors and news as she tweeted: "As for Lakers, they have been very active since 12/15. Made calls on Waiters, Jennings, Monroe. Asst GM Glen Carraro is working the phones."

But Pro Basketball Talk said that it makes little sense for the team to trade for both Greg Monroe and Brandon Jennings, other than to assure its fans that it's not tanking the season.

"If Detroit deals Jennings, it'd clearly be taking a step back. Jennings is the best point guard on either the Pistons or Lakers," it said.

As for Greg Monroe, the Laker won't secure his Bird rights so they could just wait for the season to end when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

In other Los Angeles Lakers news, the squad is already preparing for a life without Kobe Bryant, who has already rested six of the team's 11 recent games and whose status has been listed as game to game.

"If the legs are good, and his body is pretty good, and he's not feeling any soreness or any stiffness or anything like that, then we'll go from there," coach Byron Scott told ESPN.

According to the latest Los Angeles Lakers news from ESPN, the team are struggling with its identity without Kobe Bryant and although it's net rating improved without the Black Mamba, the winning percentage is not significantly better.
