We compare the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 to see which Samsung tablet is the best purchase.
We start off with the design and display of the tablets as the Fuse Joplin commented that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 has a more appealing design thanks to its slimmer bezels. Its dimensions are 210 x 124 x 8 mm, and weighs in at 320 grams. A little bigger and heavier than the Galaxy Tab 3.7.0, which measures 188 x 111.1 x 9.9 mm, and weighs 306 grams. Both tablets have TFT capacitive touchscreen displays, but they render differently, as the Galaxy Tab 4 can render 800 x 1280 pixels 189 ppi, while the Galaxy Tab 3 renders 600 x 1024 pixels at 170 ppi.
The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 processor is powered by a Dual-core Cortex-A9 at 1.2 GHz, with a Marvell PXA869 chipset. It is partnered with the PowerVR SGX540 GPU for graphics, and offers 1GB of RAM. But, its internal memory has two variants: 8, and 16 GB (users can increase its memory by 64GB when adding a microSD card). Its operating system runs on the old Android OS, v4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).
The Galaxy Tab 4.0 on the other hand, has a new Quad-core at 1.2 GHz, and a Qualcomm APQ8026 chipset. Its internal memory is at 16 and 1.5GB of Ram, but with an microSD card it could also reach up to 64GB. The tablet runs on the Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat).
According to the GSMArena specs, both tablets have the same specs in cameras: 3.15MP primary camera, 1.3MP secondary camera, and video quality of 720p@30fps. The difference however, is that the Galaxy Tab 4 battery can last 11 hours, while the Tab 3 battery can only last 8 hours.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 costs around $269, while the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is cheaper at $150.00.
