Three Hollywood superstars will be headlining the film adaptation of the Michael Lewis bestseller. Variety recently reported that Brat Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale will star in "The Big Short." Paramount and Plan B decided to produce a movie based on the non-fiction novel "The Big Short Story: Inside the Doomsday Machine," which was released back in 2010.

The film adaptation will be directed by Adam McKay, who was praised for his work in "Moneyball." That movie was produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B and he also starred in the film that earned a "Best Picture" nomination at the Academy Awards.

During an interview with Collider, the director revealed how excited he was to work again with the producers and the writer. McKay said, "Michael Lewis has the amazing ability to take complex formulas and concepts and turn them into page turners." The filmmaker added, "Plan B and I connected over that breathless quality the book has. Very excited to jump into this."

The President of Paramount Pictures Film Group was also thrilled about "The Big Short." Adam Goodman said, "I am so excited as this project marks my third collaboration with Adam McKay - a tremendously talented filmmaker and one of my favorite storytellers."

Plan B also shared their excitement working with talented individuals. They said, "There are those rare literary treasures - as with THE BIG SHORT - that park in the harbor and you just wait, with hope. Adam McKay is a singular voice and talent and a ferocious mind - the vector of Adam and this book is what a producer dreams of."

With Michael Lewis and Adam McKay on board, you are assured of a successful outcome. But Brad Pitt and his group from Plan B want to push the envelope so they assembled an all-star cast for the movie adaptation. The "Moneyball" actor will now be joined by Ryan Gosling, who recently finished filming "The Nice Guys", and Christian Bale, who was last seen in "Exodus: Gods and Kings".

Do you think "The Big Short" will surpass the success of "Moneyball"?
