Fans of Matthew McConaughey were thrilled when they saw his audition tape for the 1993 stoner movie "Dazed and Confused." Criterion Collection recently shared the footage of the actor when he was just in his early 20s. He was wearing a "Headbangers Ball" shirt, which was a popular show on MTV back in the 90s, and pretending to drive a car.

The Texan actor landed the role of David Wooderson in the Richard Linklater film. In the video, the younger McConaughey was seen doing a scene with Wiley Wiggins, who bagged the role of Mitch Kramer. You can hear Matthew ask Wiley if he's got a joint and he even pointed at someone claiming that he knows that stoner.

That was the first scene in Matthew McConaughey's "Dazed and Confused" audition tape. The next scene showed the actor talking about girls. Rolling Stones revealed the reason why the director gave him the part. The website reported the director saying, "How could anyone say no that smile? Especially when it's saying, 'I keep getting older, but they stay the same age.'"

"Dazed and Confused" celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013; and there were reports that Richard Linklater is planning to do a spiritual sequel to the movie. The film is called "That's What I'm Talking About" and it would take place on a college campus in the 80s as reported by Collider. Unfortunately, this project didn't push through.

During an interview with The Playlist back in 2010, the director revealed the status of the sequel. He said, "It's just sitting there." Linklater added, "I even have it financed, I just have to get a distributor that would do it or would give me enough to make it."

Rumors of a sequel surfaced again when Richard Linklater was asked about a possible "Dazed 2" during a Reddit AMA last year. Huffington Post reported the filmmaker saying, "Hoping to make it this fall, actually." He also revealed that the film will be "A college comedy. I feel like mixing it up with a big ensemble."

With the recent release of Matthew McConaughey's "Dazed and Confused" audition tape, could this be a hint that we will see a sequel to the classic stoner film in the near future? Watch the video below:
