Chef Gordon Ramsay reportedly talked to his children about the importance of cooking. According to a report from Daily Mail, the "Kitchen Nightmares" star considers cooking as a "life skill".

At a guest appearance on the "David Letterman Show," the culinary master turned reality star explained how he told his 15-year-old son, Jack, to take concentrate on improving his skills in the kitchen.

"Cooking is now a proper life skill for the young kids," Chef Gordon Ramsay said.

The notoriously frank chef then narrated how he was able to talk to his son about the importance of cooking while he was preparing for an upcoming school exam.

"I look at my son Jack and he's stressing out over Latin," he narrated.

'I'm saying to him 'Mate, if you're not going to use Latin for the rest of your life, don't worry about that exam, follow dad, let me show you how to make scrambled eggs'."

"The good news is that now, every Saturday or Sunday, our four kids cook for us. I've got them up to speed and they're bloody good cooks," the father-of-four shared.

The cooking genius also shared how his passion for culinary arts stemmed from lessons taught by his mother, who used to be a chef in Stratford-upon-Avon.

"Mum worked in a little tea house called the Cobweb Tea Room - it was packed with American's and she was cooking classic English food," he recalled.

"She used to bring home what she didn't sell back home. It amazes me today how she just got on with it and never cursed."

He also compared how he grew up helping out in the kitchen.

"Back in those days it was rude to leave anything so you ate and washed up straight afterwards," Chef Gordon Ramsay narrated.

"Today you have issues with kids even loading the dishwasher," he scoffed.

The Daily Mail feature also reported how Chef Gordon Ramsay believes children should not just learn how to cook, but also how to live healthy. He pointed out during his David Letterman guesting how parents should teach such discipline to their kids.

"I'm fed up with kids getting blamed for this obesity epidemic and bad eating habits," he said. "It's not the kids, it's the parents."
