The news reports surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers hinted of a weird dynamic between Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin, whose respective games seemed to depend on each other.
When Kobe Bryant plays well, Jeremy Lin's game suffers.
"The Los Angeles Lakers lost 109-102 to the Cleveland Cavaliers," said Sportige. "Kobe Bryant? He had his best game of the season, including a career high in assists. Jeremy Lin? Good when he played, but Byron Scott isn't really keen on using him lately."
During the game with Cleveland, Kobe Bryant posted 19 points on 50% field goal as well as career-best 17 assists. As for Linsanity, he only played 15 minutes total as Byron Scott buried him in the bench. For his final tally, Jeremy Lin only scored nine points.
"Scott has decided that it's the best way to get the best out of both players, but Lin is the one suffering from it because if Bryant isn't resting, he isn't going to play less than 32 minutes a night," it said.
"Putting it all into some sort of context, the best chance for Lin to put up big numbers is either shoot on every possession in games Bryant is playing, or simply cross his fingers for Bryant to spend as much time as possible in a suit on the sidelines," the article noted.
And now Jeremy Lin might be taking his talents elsewhere as he's been the subject of trade talks ahead of next month's deadline.
According to the latest Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors from Sports World Report, Linsanity, Robert Sacre and Steve Nash are all on the chopping block as the squad looks to improve.
"The Lakers want a major upgrade at point guard over Jeremy Lin and since he has an expiring contract, he could be a target for teams at the deadline this year," it said.
Linsanity's Jeremy Lin would no doubt welcome the chance to play elsewhere rather than being buried in the bench by Byron Scott, who seemed to prefer the defense of Ronnie Price over him.
