We compare the new iPhone 6 against the Blackberry Passport to see which smartphone is worth the purchase.
The Apple iPhone 6 has a LED-backlit IPS LCD display measuring 4.7 inches, which can render a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels at 326 ppi pixel density. Its physical dimensions are 138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm, weighs 129 grams, and it has a Shatter proof glass and oleophobic coating for protection. The Blackberry Passport has a smaller display than the Apple device at 4.5 inches, and it is IPS LCD screen. It can render a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels with a pixel density of 453ppi. Its dimensions are 128 x 90.3 x 9.3 mm, weighs 196 grams, and it is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
GSMArena stated that the iPhone 6 has a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone, partnered with the Apple A8 chipset, and PowerVR GX6450 GPU. It has a RAM capacity of 1GB, and has three variants of internal memory: 16, 64, and 128 GB. The Apple device runs on the
iOS 8, which can be upgraded into the iOS 8.1.2.
The Blackberry Passport on the other hand, is equipped with a quad-core Krait 400 clocked at 2.26 GHz, partnered with the qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, and an Adreno 330 for graphics. It has a bigger RAM at 3GB, and its internal memory is at 32 GB(users can also extend its memory capacity at 128 GB with a microSD card). It runs on the BlackBerry 10.3 OS.
For the camera and battery specs, the Blackberry Passport trumps the iPhone 6 with a primary camera of 13 MP compared to the 8MP shooter on the Apple device. The secondary camera of the Balckberry handset is at 2MP, while the iPhone 6 is at 1.2MP. However the iPhone 6 has many features such as phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, 1/3'' sensor size, 1.5µm pixel size, geo-tagging, simultaneous HD video and image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, and HDR (photo/panorama). The Blackberry on the other hand, has a few similar features such as geo-tagging, face detection, HDR, and many more.
iPhone 6 battery is a non-removable Li-Po one at 1810 mAh, which can last 14 hours in 3G. The Blackberry Passport has also a non-removable Li-Ion battery, but with a capacity of 3450 mAh that last 18 hours in 2G, and 23 hour in 3G.
The iPhone 6 cost around $650, while the Blackberry Passport is at $585.
