Missing her child’s birthday party was a big deal for one parent in London.
5-year-old Alex was reportedly charged $25 dollars for missing his friend’s birthday party, according to the NY Daily News.
Alex’s father, Derek Nash, reportedly explained that the bill was from another parent because Alex was unable to attend the party at a ski center in Plymouth, a city southwest England, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Nash has reportedly been threatened with a lawsuit if he doesn’t pay the amount in the invoice. The woman’s son has reportedly stopped playing with Alex at school as well.
“I am lost for words,” Nash told Plymouth Herald.
Nash reportedly realized that Alex’s friend’s birthday clashed with a day trip the boy was set to take with his grandparents and sister Lily. He reportedly didn’t have a contact number for the parents of his son’s friend so the organizer was given no warning that Alex would be unable to attend.
The birthday boy’s mother, Julie Lawrence, reportedly told BBC that her contact details were on the party invitation.
Nash reportedly refused to pay the money after finding the invoice inside Alex’s satchel on January 15.
“I told her she should have spoken to me first and not put the invoice in my son’s school bag,” he told the Plymouth Herald.
He added, “I would have sympathized with her about the cost of Alex not showing up, but I just can’t believe the way she has gone around it.”
Alex’s mother is reportedly trying to resolve the issue at hand after speaking to the mom via Facebook.
