Is Henry Cavill scared of flying? The star of the much waited "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" film was spotted arriving at Los Angeles' LAX airport with "support dog" Kal-El last week.
According to Daily Mail, the British actor's dog was wearing a blue vest with "Working. Do not pet. Emotional Support Dog" inscribed in it. Could it be that "Superman" is emotionally unstable during flights?
Metro.co.uk reported that emotional support animals, according to the US department of transportation are "only accepted in cabin for qualified individuals with a disability if certain documentation requirements are met."
Daily Mail reiterated this unique rule, stating that "passengers are allowed to take their dogs on flights if they have a doctor's letter stating the animal 'is necessary to their mental health or treatment.'"
With that rule, speculation that Henry Cavill is actually scared of flying and is undergoing some emotional treatment as evidenced by his support dog to make the British heartthrob relax during his flight.
"Many people get anxious when on a plane and it is much better for them to stroke a dog than to try to get over their fear by tucking into the alcohol," animal behaviour expert Dr David Sands said.
While it is not yet clear as to what particular treatment Henry Cavill is undergoing, bringing a support dog in his flight might denote some serious emotional problem. Consultant psychologist at the London Medical Centre, Ingrid Collins, said in a report by Daily Mail that bringing of animals in flight is not recommended unless necessary.
"Plane journeys are ordeals for animals and I would not recommend them unless they were absolutely necessary. There is a danger that a sympathetic doctor will sign someone off to have their dog fly with them when they could probably do without it," Collins said.
Henry Cavill's support dog for his fear of flying is the Akita puppy he bought last year with his then girlfriend, actress Gina Carano.
