Ford allowed the public eye to get a glimpse of its 2017 F-150 Raptor during the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Ford Social stated that this next generation Raptor is reengineered to be 'tougher, smarter, more capable and more efficient than ever' as the truck is equipped with features suited for off-road adventures.
"The next-generation Raptor is equipped with features allowing drivers to more easily navigate off road including standard larger FOX Racing Shox,TM standard 17-inch BFGoodrich® All-Terrain T/A® KO2 tires designed specifically for Raptor, a new standard torque-on-demand transfer case to better manage power distribution between the front and rear wheels, and the standard all-new Terrain Management SystemTM allowing drivers to easily optimize the driving dynamics of the Raptor to environmental conditions," stated in ford.social.com.
According to Motor Trend, more comprehensive upgrades are available on the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, which "makes it better," as Ford claims.
"When we created the first Raptor, we set out to prove vehicle performance isn't just measured on the street or at the track - off-road can be even more fun," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president of Global Product Development, in a release. "The original Raptor, plus enhancements on the all-new F-150 set the bar for us to make the all-new Raptor better in every way."
Fox News reported that the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is based on new aluminium-intensive F-150, making it 500 pounds lighter than the old Raptor.
Motor Authority noted that Ford's new 4x4 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 teamed with a 10-speed automatic transmission which marks the company's first use of the long-anticipated 10-speeder truck. It is said to be more powerful than the 6.2-liter V8 it supersedes, which is rated at 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque.
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is said to be commercial available in fall of 2016.
