To no surprise, The Elder Scrolls Online will go free to play.

In announcement made by Bethesda, the popular MMORPG has been renamed to reflect the big move. Apart from the expected announcement, developers have also shared the official console version release date.

"As the game makes the move to console, it's being retitled The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. The new name comes with another important change: Bethesda is dropping the monthly subscription fee, making the game fully free to play. Next generation consoles owners can simply buy the game when it launches on June 9 and never need to pay a cent again," CNET reported.

"Bethesda does note, however, that "as with any standard multiplayer game on these platforms, an internet connection and an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership will be required to play,"the site added.

By March 17, all existing PC and Mac accounts will be automatically changed to The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Account holders will be sent updates about the changes.

Apart from the new important launches, Bethesda and Zenimax will be rolling out update 6 later this month. The official TESO site has recently released a guide on update 6, and it has a detailed explanation of what fans can expect.

"Provisioners, rejoice! Big changes are coming to your crafting skill in Update 6. We've reorganized recipes to make them easier to find in the UI, reduced the overall number of ingredients (your inventory will thank us), added new recipes, improved the usefulness of drink buffs, and much more," the site said.
