Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's best footballer, recently won his second Ballon D'or back to back, maintaining his momentum from last year when he beat rival Lionel Messi of Barcelona.
However, The 'Golden Ball' is not the only thing Ronaldo has picked up at the Ballon D'or award ceremonies in Zurich, Switzerland. The football superstar was accompanied to the award show by Real Madrid club TV presenter Lucia Villalon instead of his girlfriend of five years, Victoria's Secret angel Irina Shyak. Spanish media reported that Ronaldo has been seeing Lucia, and this was the reason for the split with the Russian supermodel.
"Speculation over Cristiano's status began when Shayk didn't attend the Ballon d'Or ceremony and unfollowed Ronaldo on Twitter," Stuff.co.nz reported.
"After dating for five years, my relationship with Irina Shayk has come to an end. We believed it would be best for both of us to take this step now," Ronaldo said. "I wish Irina the greatest happiness."
Ronaldo and Irina began dating in 2010 after working for several Armani Exchange campaigns.
Meanwhile, Nike has released the diamond-encrusted Mercurial CR7 Rare Gold boots in honor of his latest achievement. The new release was Nike's way of paying tribute to the footballer's impressive performance in the Copa del Rey, Champions League, European Super Cup and the World Cup.
Ronaldo looks like he is back in shape for a new season at Real Madrid, though he has brought up talk about a possible transfer to the Brazilian league.
