A lot of wonderful things are happening in Zooey Deschanel’s life, including a pregnancy and her recent engagement to producer boyfriend Jacob Pechenik.
Although the engagement won’t change things for “New Girl,” a pregnancy most definitely will, which has fans wondering how the show will carry on with the star’s future baby bump.
According to “New Girl” co-star Jake Johnson, Zooey Deschanel’s pregnancy will not be a storyline in the show.
“No, Jess is not going to have a baby,” Johnson explained during an interview with E! News, according to Bustle.
He added, “It’d be a weird ‘Three Men and a Baby’ vibe. Just imagine how weird Winston would be around that baby!”
The cast of “New Girl” are clearly happy to hear the news of the pregnancy.
“I’m excited for her. We’re really excited. She and [boyfriend Jacob Pechenik] are excited and I couldn’t be happier for Zooey. She’s a good friend and this is an awesome thing in her life. I think she’s going to be a great mom,” stated Johnson.
The 35-year-old actress is reportedly due this summer.
Deschanel and Pechenik reportedly began dating in mid-2014 shortly after her two-year relationship with screenwriter Jamie Linden ended, according to the NY Daily News. The couple reportedly made their first appearance together at the 2014 Emmys in August.
Deschanel had been married once before to the lead vocalist of Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Gibbard, but the former couple split in 2012. Despite her divorce, Deschanel had remained positive and reportedly stated that she still believes in “true love” during an 2013 interview with Cosmo UK.
“My parents have been married for 40 years and my grandparents were married for 70 years. I come from a long line of true loves,” she stated.
