"The Imitation Game" actor Benedict Cumberbatch claimed that the invites for his upcoming wedding to fiancee Sophie Hunter were already sent via email, as the actor finds himself in an awkward position for using the wrong term to describe black actors.

According to the report from Sunday Mirror, because of the time constraints, the 38-year-old chucked the traditional sending of wedding invites by post, and just emailed friends about the wedding to Sophie Hunter.

"It's shocked a few people but they want their special day to happen before they have the baby," the source said. "The details have been sent out in an email rather than a paper invitation as time is of the essence."

The publication said that Benedict Cumberbatch want to hold the wedding right after the Oscars but before fiancee Sophie Hunter will give birth in the summer.

In a related news, Benedict Cumberbatch might have drawn rave reviews for his turn as Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game," but his choice of an inappropriate word in a recent interview prompted the British actor to offer a heartfelt apology.

In an interview with Tavis Smiley, the "Sherlock" actor talked about how British black actors Idris Elba and David Oyelowo have carved careers in America more than in the UK.

"It's an even playing field. [These actors] paid their dues for years by just doing beautiful performances. I think as far as colored actors go it gets really difficult in the UK," he said.

His use of the word "colored" immediately drew flak from netizens, prompting an apology from "The Imitigation Game" actor Benedict Cumberbatch. "I feel the complete fool I am and while I am sorry to have offended people and to learn from my mistakes in such a public manner please be assured I have," he said. "I apologize again to anyone who I offended for this thoughtless use of inappropriate language about an issue which affects friends of mine and which I care about deeply."
