Good news for Cosmos fans as the Cosmos season 2 release date is likely to be on 2016 if the reports and rumors are to be believed.
ScienceIsNotForGeeks has reported that after the Star Talk Tv series ends, Neil deGrasse Tyson would be filming the next season of Cosmos and that Fox has reportedly put the release date of Cosmos season 2 to be on sometime in 2016.
According to the reports, Neil deGrasse Tyson will host the National Geographic Channel's first ever late-night talk show called "Star Talk" that features pop culture personalities and science commentary from scientists.
It should be noted that, "Star Talk" is based on Tyson's podcast of the same name and it will premiere in April. Tyson made the announcement at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour Wednesday in Pasadena, Calif. The show will tape at the Hayden Planetarium, where Tyson serves as director.

Neil deGrasse Tyson also confirmed on his Twitter page that indeed, he met with Seth MacFarlane about Cosmos season 2 and that he is feeling the "Cosmos love":
This follows the reports that Neil deGrasse Tyson admitted in his lecture at Newark, New Jersey that he was meeting with producers at New York about the next season of Cosmos.
A user from Reddit recounted the events are Tyson's lecture:
"I just attended a presentation by Tyson at NJPAC in Newark, NJ. During the Q&A portion, he told the audience that he's meeting with producers tomorrow in NYC to discuss the next "season" (for lack of better term) of COSMOS. He didn't go into further detail, but thought this was interesting since up until this point the updated show was just considered a one-off series (ie 13 episodes)."
