The latest LA Lakers news and rumors don't bode well for the purple and gold fans as Kobe Bryant is likely done for the season. Meanwhile, coach Byron Scott felt responsible for riding the likely hall of famer to the ground.
Lakers reporter Ramona Shelbourne tweeted: "Final word from the doctor today is still to come, but I'm told the Lakers are expecting Kobe to miss the rest of this season."
The superstar guard injured his right shoulder during the second half in Wednesday's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. He stayed up until reaching his desired number of minutes but he played mostly using his left hand.
According to the ESPN sources, Kobe Bryant has been dealing with a shoulder injury during the preseason and aggravated it during Wednesday's game.
But there's hope for fans as Yahoo writer Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted: "Kobe Bryant and Lakers will likely wait until Monday to make a decision on treatment for his torn rotator cuff, league sources tell Yahoo."
According to various LA Lakers news and rumors, coach Byron Scott reportedly felt responsible for Kobe Bryant's latest injury.
Lakers beat reporter Bill Oram shared on Twitter: "Byron Scott said possible link of heavy minutes early on to Kobe's injury 'Almost made me sick.' Apologized via text to Bryant."
Kobe Bryant is averaging 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists this season and while those are impressive numbers for a 36-year-old, he's also shooting at a career-low of 37% from the field.
The bad news is that the injury will hurt the team, said the LA Lakers news and rumors, since the deadline for a disabled-player exception already passed on Jan. 15. Kobe Bryant is owed $24 million this season, and $25 million for the final year of his contract next season. The Black Mamba also missed a significant time last season as he recovered from a knee injury.
