‘American Idol’ Season 14: Did Adam Lambert’s Presence Help Raise Ratings? Show Reduced To Hour-Long Episodes!

After "American Idol" season 14's dismal premiere ratings, the long-standing show seemed to be poised for a ratings bump with Adam Lambert sitting in for Keith Urban at the judge's table.

Was he able to attract more viewers during his New York auditions visit?

Although, episode four (which Lambert appeared in) wasn't able to bring in a notable increase in numbers, the fifth one managed to pull the ratings up considerably.

According to Music Times, episode five attracted 11.2 million viewers compared to the previous week's 10.8 million (Wednesday episode) and and 10.4 million (Thursday episode).

Lambert had been mentioned a couple of times in past reports as a possible judge for the show after Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj exited but it seemed like his schedule (touring with legendary group Queen) and new album preparations prevented him from taking on a permanent seat on the "Idol" judging panel.

Zap2It loved the Grammy nominee's stint on the show, saying that he's "everything you look for in a reality competition judge." The former finalist even recreated - and nailed - his fateful audition back in season eight.

With the auditions part already concluded, "American Idol" season 14 will be having a schedule change, as Fox previously announced.

"I think it will be a two-night format initially during the audition phase, and will quite likely end up as a two-hour show on one night for most of its run," former Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly stated in a past report.

Viewers will only be seeing Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick, Jr., and Keith Urban once a week from now on.

According to Gossip And Gab, this decision was made to help bring in new shows to the network. In effect, the viewing audience will have to watch only an hour of "American Idol" season 14 every week until live shows start in March.
