Should Anna Kendrick Have Been Cast In ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Instead Of Emma Watson?

Emma Watson has reportedly been cast in the live-action version of “Beauty and the Beast,” according to CNN.

Although many have rejoiced after the “Harry Potter” actress revealed the news via Facebook, a handful of social media users are asking if Anna Kendrick should’ve been cast as Belle rather than Emma Watson.

“Anna Kendrick kind of felt like the obvious choice,” wrote social media user MJ.

Others have disagreed, supporting the decision that Watson is the right person to play the Disney character.

“I love Anna Kendrick but I don’t find her the obvious choice, in fact, I’d say Emma Watson is the more obvious choice,” responded another social media user.

The comments continued, “Anna would definitely have been able to pull this off too but I can’t help but feel like her rendition of the character would just be her reprising her ‘Into the Woods’ character. She’s got two more musicals coming out this year, I’m sure she doesn’t want to be typecast.”

Disney has reportedly confirmed the casting choice as well.

“I’m finally able to tell you that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There,’” Watson wrote on Facebook.

She added, “My six year old self is on the ceiling — heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

The film reportedly isn’t scheduled to go into production until late this year. No release date has reportedly been announced.
