Toyota is expecting higher sales this year as the automaker will piggyback on the popularity of its 2016 Tacoma midsize pick-up truck which will be released fall of this year.

According to autonews.com, the Japanese company is planning to top its US sales where the bulk of profits is expected to come from the 2016 Tacoma midsize pick-up.

"Dealers are real excited about the truck, but they need more of them," Bob Carter, Toyota's senior vice president of automotive operations, said.

Reportedly, 155,000 units of Tacoma's predecessor were sold last year and the Japanese automaker plan to surpass that number this year.

"Toyota will add a third production shift at its Baja California, Mexico, assembly plant in April -- increasing annual Tacoma capacity at the factory to 84,000 units. The truck is also made at Toyota's San Antonio, Texas, plant," Autonews.com noted.

Another report from the same website indicated the dealer's demand for more trucks which reaffirms the thrill in anticipation of boosting sales for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma pick up.

"One of the major issues facing Toyota dealers would be the lack of truck production," Jay Caldwell, chairman of the Toyota National Dealer Advisory Council said. "The thing we heard loud and clear from 12 of our 13 regions is that we need more trucks -- both Tacoma and Tundra."

Now that the company is facing competition with the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, low fuel prices according to bidnessetc.com can increase the sales of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma pick-up.

"Its heritage of unwavering capability and unbreakable attitude grows with an available, all-new 3.5L V6 with direct injection and 6-speed transmission, plus rugged, available features like Crawl Control (CRAWL) and Multi-terrain Select," the company's website stated. "And for the first time, every Tacoma will come standard with a GoPro® mount to help you get all the adventure on video. This is how we make America's best-selling midsize pickup in its segment for the last ten years10 better in every way."

The Japanese automaker is confident about keeping the lead in terms of the midsize pick-up sector with the 2106 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck.
