A Ford Motors executive teased that the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor which will be faster than its predecessor.
According to a telecast interview on Fox Sports at the 24 Hours of Daytona reported by automobilemag.com, Ford Global Product Development vice president Raj Nair informed the public about the new Raptor's turbocharged engine which is rated at 450 horsepower.
As previously reported, Ford's new 4x4 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 that is said to be more powerful than the 6.2-liter V8 it supersedes, rated at 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque.
Aside from becoming faster, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor also changed its exterior design. Fox News reported that Ford's new truck will keep its wide-style body which is said to be six inches wider than the preceding F-150. It also has the giant octagonal "FORD" emblem in the grille plus the hood and fenders made from scrape resistant materials.
Off-road adventure seekers will enjoy other features of the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor.
According to Motor Authority, Ford's latest pick-up truck is packed with an electronic terrain management system with multiple driving modes. This includes Normal, Street, Weather, Mud, Baja, and Rock mode that is said to "alter vehicle parameters under different conditions." Coupled with larger Fox Racing shocks for more suspension travel, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has an available Torsen limited-slip front differential that is anticipated to offer more flexible power delivery as this new transfer case is designed for added rock-crawling capability.
"The next-generation Raptor is equipped with features allowing drivers to more easily navigate off road including standard larger FOX Racing Shox, standard 17-inch BFGoodrich® All-Terrain T/A® KO2 tires designed specifically for Raptor, a new standard torque-on-demand transfer case to better manage power distribution between the front and rear wheels, and the standard all-new Terrain Management SystemTM allowing drivers to easily optimize the driving dynamics of the Raptor to environmental conditions," ford.social.com stated.
