"Parks and Recreation" star Rashida Jones faced a regrettably unaware reporter on the red carpet of Sunday's SAG Awards. The mixed-race star, daughter of legendary musician Quincy Jones, received a questionable compliment and handled it with grace and a sense of humor. Watch the video and find out more about the eye-roll-inducing comment below!

As Rashida Jones walked the red carpet with all of the other dashing stars at Sunday's SAG Awards, the actress took a moment to be interviewed by TNT's red carpet reporters.

The beautiful daughter of black music legend Quincy Jones and Jewish actress Peggy Lipton approached the area in her flowing printed Emanuel Ungaro gown.

TNT correspondent Danielle Demski immediately greeted the star by praising her classy look and glowing skin - but it seems like she may not have done her research on Jones beforehand!

"You look amazing - gorgeous!" Demski exclaimed. "You look like you've just come off an island or something. You're very tan, very tropical."

The "tan" Danielle Demski so awkwardly referred to is in fact her natural mixed race skin color!

Of course, Jones reacted with complete and utter charm. The biracial actress swayed in her dress and wittily replied: "I mean, you know, I'm ethnic."

Rashida and the reporters then laughed in unison, while it appeared that the correspondents still didn't quite get it.

"I'm ethnic too," said Demski's co-host, PEOPLE's deputy editor of entertainment JD Heyman.

"It's just being ethnic. That's what it is," added Demski ironically.

It appears the "ethnic" comment, which Jones made to clarify her biracial ethnicity, was completely lost upon the oblivious SAG red carpet hosts who then just decided to have fun with the dreaded word.

Let this be a lesson to all celebrity reporters - do your research before an interview or else you might end up with your foot in your mouth!
