We compare Apple's iPhone 6 Plus against Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge to know which phablet should consumers purchase.

According to the specs from GSMArena, Apple's iPhone 6 Plus has the following dimensions of 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 mm, and weighs around 172 grams. Its 5.5 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display is protected by shatter proof glass, and the screen can render a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at around 401 ppi of pixel density.

Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge is 2 grams heavier than the Apple device, and its physical dimensions of 151.3 x 82.4 x 8.3 mm. The Samsung phablet has 5.6 inch Super AMOLED screen that can render an impressive resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels at 524 ppi, and its protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The iPhone 6 Plus has dual-processor at 1.4 GHz, partnered with the Apple A8, and PowerVR GX6450 GPU at 1GB RAM. Its internal memory ranges from 16, 32, and 64GB, and its software is the iOS 8, which will have the iOS 8.1.3 upgrade soon.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge on the other hand is powered by Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450, with a Snapdragon 805 chipset, and an Adreno 420 GPU. Its RAM capacity is higher at 3GB with 32 and 64GB of internal memory which can expand up to 128GB with an microSD card. Its operating systems is the Android OS, v4.4.4 (KitKat).

The Samsung phablet has better variety of cameras at 16MP, and 3.7MP with features like dual Shot, Simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, and HDR.

The Apple phablet on the other hand, has 8MP primary camera and a 1.2MP secondary camera. Its features include 1/3'' sensor size, 1.5µm pixel size, geo-tagging, simultaneous HD video and image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, and HDR (photo/panorama).

The iPhone 6 Plus has a 2915 mAh battery that last 24 hours, while the a 3000 mAh battery is present in the Samsung handset, but only last 18 hours.

According to the Fuse Joplin, The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is around $399 for a two year contract, while the iPhone 6 Plus is cheaper at $299 also with two year contract.
