"American Horror Story" season 5 spoilers hint that the major stars might get lesser screen time, and Jessica Lange's return is even uncertain.
According to Game N Guide, the show's producers have their hands tied regarding its major stars, Sarah Paulson and Emma Roberts.
"Sarah Paulson who has appeared in all seasons will also be in a smaller role for the upcoming season of 'American Horror Story' due to the fact that she has taken a part in the show 'American Crime Story,' which is a sort of sister show to AHS," the report said.
Emma Roberts will also be playing a major role in "Scream Queens," another Ryan Murphy creation.
But the website said that it would be a blessing in disguise because the show can now "return to the more anthology feel" in the first two seasons, highlighting the story rather than the actors.
Earlier, FX president John Landgraf teased "American Horror Story" season 5 spoilers to TVLine claiming it will depart drastically from "Freak Show.
"One of the things I love so much about that is that it can be radically, radically reinvented in terms of tone, setting, period, characters, cast," he said. "I think there's going to be an unusually large reinvention in between Book 4 and Book 5 relative to, say, between Book 3 [Coven] and 4 [Freak Show]."
Jessica Lange in an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly hinted that she might not return for season 5 of "American Horror Story."
"It's like doing a stage play between the rehearsal and the run. This is a 6-month commitment every year. That will be four years in a row," she said. "I want to have more time to myself I guess."
