The world is anticipating Tom Hiddleston's new movie, "Avengers: Age Of Ultron," which will be released on May 1. However, the British superstar will also be appearing in several other films this year.

One such film is Ben Wheatley's adaptation of the J.G. Ballard thriller, "High Rise."

According to Empire, Hiddleston will be playing Dr. Robert Laing, the apparent "anti-hero" of the movie. However, it looks like he will also succumb to the mysterious violence that's slowly taking over the residents of the building complex.

The actor posted the first ever photo of himself in character to his Twitter. He simply captioned the shot, "Dr Laing. #HighRise"

Set in 1975, at Margaret Thatcher's rise to power, Coming Soon describes Hiddleston's character as "a young doctor seduced by the high-rise and its creator, the visionary architect Anthony Royal (Jeremy Irons)."

He will also start a relationship with Royal's assistant, Charlotte (Sienna Miller), as he discovers complex relationships within the tenants of the building.

"But rot has set in beneath the flawless surface. Sensing discord amongst the tenants, Laing meets Wilder, a charismatic provocateur bent on inciting the situation," Coming Soon continued to reveal Tom Hiddleston's new movie synopsis.

"Wilder initiates Laing into the hidden life of the high-rise and Laing is shocked at what he sees. As the residents break into tribal factions, Laing finds himself in the middle of mounting violence. Violence that he also finds emerging in himself."

Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, Reece Shearsmith and James Purefoy will be joining the "Thor" star in this new thriller film.

Shot in Northern Ireland, "High Rise" will reportedly be released sometime this year by StudioCanal.

Tom Hiddleston's new movie list also includes the Guillermo del Toro film, "Crimson Peak." The 33-year-old's co-star Jessica Chastain teased fans of a sex scene for the actor in the film.
