On February 9, several Korean news outlets including Osen reported the potential casting of CNBLUE's Jonghyun in the KBS2 drama, “Orange Marmalade.”
FNC Entertainment, who represents Jonghyun, did not provide confirmation of that the idol would join the project. However, the agency noted that he is in consideration for the role, with talks reaching the final stages.
The CNBLUE star made his acting debut in the film “Acoustic,” during the Bakery Attack segment. “Acoustic” also starred his band mate, Minhyuk. Jonghyun debuted as a television actor in the 2013 SBS drama “A Gentleman's Dignity.” He portrayed Colin, the illegitimate son of the show's protagonist, Kim Do Jin (Jang Dong Gun).
He received praise for his emotional range as Colin, as he helped to carry the story line of which featured the younger counterparts of the aging gentlemen. The drama also paired the acting idol with Kim Woo Bin,who appeared in the supporting role of Kim Dong Hyub.
Jonghyun has held cameo roles in the special drama “Adolescence Melody” and the web drama “One Sunny Day,” since starring in “A Gentleman's Dignity.”
Other actors who are in consideration to join “Orange Marmalade” include Yeo Jin Goo (Moon Embracing the Sun). The program would mark Yeo's return to drama since the completion of the series “Potato Star.”
“Orange Marmalade” will be a Friday night drama with a youthful plot. The program is based on a popular web comic. It is a twist on the current surge of dramas which features male vampires. In “Orange Marmalade,” a female student attempts to disguise her identity as a vampire while interacting with a male student. The drama is scheduled to air in May 2015, upon the conclusion of Jaejoong's espionage drama, “Spy.”
