Nissan introduced the 2016 Maxima in a 90-second commercial flashed in the Super Bowl. According to autonet.ca, the new Maxima is reminiscent of the Sport Sedan concept presented at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last year.
Reportedly, the Japanese automaker confirmed that the 2016 Nissan Maxima will debut this April at the 2015 New York International Auto Show.
While little is revealed about this latest addition to Nissan, bsmotoring.com reported that the 2016 Nissan Maxima holds a "floating roof, aggressive beltline and swooping rear end." The online publication based its assumption in the concept presented by the company a year ago.
"Next-generation Nissan design cues like a 'floating' roof, V-Motion front end, and rakish boomerang-shaped headlights and taillights give it an air of openness and motion rarely found in a sedan. The striking Concept is finished off with an exclusive Strad Amber paint that recalls the rich, deep colors found on classic violins," stated in the Nissan website.
In the same way, NY Daily News noted that the car "should feature a number of engine and trim options with likely a 4-cylinder and V-6 powertrain, and should come with front or all-wheel-drive standard." It is also presumed that this next gen Maxima will have an output of 260bhp.
"Building sports car performance and personality into 4-door, five passenger sedans has been a Nissan tradition for decades. Now, we introduce the Sport Sedan Concept to continue that tradition," Nissan website indicated. "Inspired by modern furniture design, the interior utilizes geometric shapes, metallic accents, contrasting colors, and advanced ergonomics for an ultra-modern, driver-focused atmosphere."
If the 2016 Nissan Maxima is the sheet metal of the Sport Sedan Concept, it might deliver a great quality since the model has been notable last year. According to the company's website the Sport Sedan Concept has been awarded as the Best Concept by Auto Week Magazine at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.
