Even with no concrete and specific details about an upcoming launch, die-hard fans are still expecting the best for the "Half Life 3" release date.
After 10 years of waiting for the 3rd installment, fans are really not quick to drop all hope left. However, in several ocassions, Valve co-founde Gabe Newell has pretty made everything clear that a new "Half Life" game is not being developed.
In one of his previous statements, he has also hinted on the possible reason why the 3rd installment's release date has not been explored until now.
"When we started out we were a single-player video game company that could have been really successful just doing Half-Life sequel after Half-Life sequel, but we collectively said let's try to make multi-player games even though there's never been a commercial successful multi-player game," Newell said, as reported by Celebeat.
Meanwhile, with news that Valve will showcase their next gen platfrom gINext at the GDC 2015, fans have again begun speculating that a "Half Life 3" release date announcement could be in place at the event.
"This would be the perfect opportunity for Valve to announce a new game running the glNext tech. GDC might not be the time to announce Half-Life 3... or could it? There's also the possibility of Left 4 Dead 3, Portal 3, an entirely new IP, or just another boring demo," Tech Radar reported.
Previous "Half Life 3" release date rumors have already suggested that the much awaited title could finally be revealed this year, but claimed that the only hope the 3rd installment could ever be released is if Valve decides to outsource the game to a different developer.
JBG News reported that in Dan Amrich's (Ubisoft San Francisco community developer) interview with IGN, he mentioned that Valve should just let someone else do it if they're uninterested to keep the franchise alive.
