People from New Orleans will surely be thrilled when they find out that three of today's hottest actors will be going to their city.
There are reports that Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale will be shooting scenes from their upcoming movie "The Big Short" in the area tentatively around March.
There isn't any formal announcement yet from Paramount Pictures, but the state film office recently confirmed that the studio has already applied for the project on Feb. 11 as reported by Nola.
"This application is under review by my office and we look forward to production starting in a month or so," said Louisiana Entertainment's Chris Stelly.
New Orleans has attracted many big Hollywood movies so having another future box office hit to shoot in the area isn't that surprising. "The fact that they have chosen our state and the city of New Orleans is no surprise because we have become the premiere destination for motion pictures of all types," Stelly said.
"This is another great title being added to our growing canon which now boasts of productions such as 'NCIS: New Orleans,' 'Jurassic World,' 'Fantastic Four', 'Salem' and many more. 2015 is shaping up to be one of our most successful years yet," the executive director said.
According to some workers from the local film industry, "The Big Short" is already looking for locations where they can shoot and hiring crew to join the principal photography. The pre-production is expected to become busier after the Carnival season in New Orleans which will be held on Feb. 17. There aren't any reports yet regarding the duration of the shoot.
Apart from Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale, another actor is expected to join the power trio. We reported last time that Steve Carell may join the star-studded cast of "The Big Short" and he gave out hints during a recent interview.
"That looks like it's happening," Carell told USA Today. "There are talks right now."
The 52-year old actor is doing a movie with director Bennet Miller and he has worked on the "Moneyball", which is also a film adaptation of Michael Lewis' best-selling novel. So he may have convinced the comedian from taking this project since it was also based on the award-winning author's work.
If the negotiations will push through, New Orleans will be lucky to see Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, and Steve Carell film some scenes from "The Big Short."
