Good news "Destiny" gamers, Bungie confirmed that the much-awaited Update 1.1.1 is in the making!
On Thursday, Feb. 19, Bungie announced on its website that the "Destiny" Update 1.1.1 will soon be a reality. AttackOfTheFanBoy notes that the update looks to reshape numerous aspects of "Destiny"; however, Bungie has not quiet revealed all the details yet. The big change revealed this week is that the Weekly Heroic Strikes will now allow matchmaking.
According to Game Informer, a lot of things are set to change in the Weekly Heroic Strikes as Bungie drops the next patch slated for some time in Feb. Loading one up will kick the player into matchmaking so even if your friends are not online, you will have a team. According to Bungie, the Nightfall strikes (which make your party restart if everyone dies) as well as raids won't be getting matchmaking. Bungies explains, the former won't be happening and the latter is still under construction.
The upcoming patch will also fix the long-standing heavy bug that robs players of the valuable ammunition upon death, cutscenes, or returning to orbit.
Bungie said, "When the bits from 1.1.1 stream into your drive, we'll be (finally) fixing a heavy ammo bug, applying some newfound balance to the weapon sandbox, and enhancing the view into your ever-growing reputation."
Talking about why the company changed the Weekly Heroic Strike to be a matchmade, Design Lead M.E. Chung said Bungie wanted the Weekly Heroics to be a challenge that pushed players and their friends; however, it was observed that these strikes don't demand the same cooperation of a united, pre-made group. Chung says, the community response was so overwhelming that many players didn't have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis.
Chung also ruled out the possibility of solo Weekly Heroic, pointing out that the change applies to all levels of the Weekly Heroic. However, the Nightfall will be unaffected by the change. Raids won't get matchmaking either, Chung added.
Bungie has not yet announced a release date for "Destiny" update 1.1.1 but notes that Chung's team has plans for an exciting update that will follow 1.1.1.
