‘Doctor Who’ Season 9 Spoilers: Intriguing Character To Return To Sci-Fi Show? BBC Announces More Guest Stars Appearing On Premiere Episode

The ninth season of the exciting BBC sci-fi looms ahead, and more "Doctor Who" episode spoilers are popping up. Recently, BBC America has announced that it will be bringing back a fascinating character from season 8.

The British television network announced that Missy (played by Michelle Gomez) will be returning to the much talked about science fiction drama for the opening episode of season 9.This is quite a big deal, especially considering how her character left in the past season.

There are also a bunch of scheduled guest appearances from stars in the two-part opener for the new season, according to the latest "Doctor Who" season 9 spoilers news.

Though there still scant information released on the forthcoming season since the hit show will not be aired until at least next fall, BBC America has taken the initiative to announce that Gomez will indeed join the cast of the two-episode premiere, entitled "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar."

British director Hettie Macdonald will be helming both episodes while showrunner Steven Moffat is slated to write for the two-part opener.

Another star who is reportedly coming back for the premiere is Jemma Redgrave, who gives life to the character of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Other guest stars who are signed on for the new season's first two episodes are Clare Higgins, Jaye Griffiths and Kelly Hunter, although not much can be said about their roles just yet, according to a report by Cinema Blend.

Missy was known as "The Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere." She made cameos throughout the season before finally appearing in the two-episode finale of the show.

In episode 11 of "Doctor Who" season 8, Missy was revealed, in a huge twist, to be The Master, which made her the first woman ever to take the role since the beginning of the sci-fi drama. The last Missy was seen was when a Cyberman vaporized her, which could have easily marked her end. Yet, the new developments tell us that this isn't so.

As of press time, "Doctor Who" Season 9 does not have a premiere date yet. Watch out for more spoilers which will be published as they come along.
