The Oculus Rift consumer version release date was reportedly set to April 2015, however Oculus VR head, Palmer Luckey has clarified all the rumors regarding the launch date of the consumer version of the Oculus Rift.
Lily Aria of Franchise Herald has reported that the consumer grade version of the Oculus Rift is allegedly going to be released by OVR sometime this April 2015.
"Oculus VR's virtual reality headset known as the Oculus Rift consumer version is reportedly set for an April release date," wrote Franchise Herald.
However, their report conflicts with the statement made by Palmer Luckey about the Oculus Rift consumer version release date when he said that he expects the launch date to be on Winter 2015.
Gamenguide has previously reported that Palmer Luckey stated that he expects the Oculus Rift consumer version release date to be on Winter 2015.
"Speaking to The Telegraph, as reported by VR Focus, Lucky estimated a winter 2015 launch for the first consumer version of the VR headset" wrote Gamenguide.
Palmer Luckey previously talked about how the consumer version of the Oculus Rift would be improved over the previous beta version of the Oculus Rift as he notes that there would be significant improvements to the device regarding resolution and smoothness.
"Co-founder Palmer Luckey also stated that the consumer system's resolution would get a 'significant increase' over the DK2's 1080p display, with a refresh rate that will hit 90Hz or higher" quotes Techradar.
It should be noted that Palmer Luckey and Nate Micthell teased that the Oculus Rift consumer version could be priced around the $200 to $400 range.
"Company co-founders Palmer Luckey and Nate Micthell stated they want to keep the hardware in the $200-$400 range; something similar to the prices of current development kit models. The DK2 model, specifically, sells for $350" wrote Game Rant.
