Alleged references to "Half Life 3" was found by gamers on the Source Engine 2 code while it has been rumored that the "Half Life 3" release date could be announced by Valve on GDC 2015.
Tyler Lee of UberGizmo reported that gamers found alleged references to "Half Life 3" on Dota 2's tools which run on the Source Engine 2.
"It seems that in the latest DOTA 2 tools, there has been some reference made to the game. The references comes in the form of a line of code that reads, 'game hl3'," wrote UberGizmo.
UberGizmo then wrote, "Of course given how obscure this is, 'hl3' could very well refer to just about anything. However we are talking about Valve, not to mention gamers have been clamoring for Half-Life 3 so there is a good chance that 'hl3' could indeed be a reference to Half-Life 3. For those interested in taking a look at the code themselves, it can be found in %STEAM_HOME%SteamAppscommondota 2 betadota_ugcgamebinwin32toolsmodel_editor.dll."
This is not the first time that Valve allegedly hinted at "Half Life 3" as it was previously reported that "Half Life 3" was allegedly found on the Steam Database.
The Motoring Crunch has reported that they have uploaded some information about "Half Life 3" on the Steam Database but has then deleted it after gamers found the entry and spread it online.
"Valve unofficially made an announcement on the highly anticipated title. By unofficial, the confirmation was made through a leak by Valve on Steam," wrote Motoring Crunch.
Motoring Crunch then wrote, "For those who are unaware of the havoc that is going on, Steam was updated yesterday and it saw the addition of App 323900. The amazing part is with the fact that App 33900 came out with Half Life 3's logo. This has got the fans buzzing loudly as for the first time ever; a leak from Half Life 3 actually came from Valve themselves. Of course, Valve was notified of the buzz and has hence removed the App from the listing."
It has been rumored and speculated that "Half Life 3" could be announced at GDC 2015 after Valve announced that they would be at the event.
"According to GDC, the company will be using live technical demos to showcase the new standard which means they'll be using actual games, and by actual games we of course mean Half-Life 3 (probably not). While it's unlikely that Valve would announce such a game at a graphics performance panel, the fact remains that if it were to be made, Valve would want it to set a visual benchmark for the next-generation of games" wrote Huffington Post UK.
