Jared Leto has revealed some interesting bits about his role as Joker in the upcoming DC Comic film adaptation "Suicide Squad." Meanwhile, Jay Hernandez is also said to be joining the cast of said film, according to the latest rumor mill.
The actor finally talked about playing Batman's arch nemesis in light of persistent "Suicide Squad" cast rumors. Given that he will be filling pretty big Joker shoes left by the memorable performances of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger, how is the "My So-Called Life" star preparing for the role?
By packing on the pounds, apparently.
The actor, who dropped a significant amount of weight for his 2013 transgender role in "Dallas Buyers Club," is now trying to get bigger for the bad guy role.
"I'm trying to gain a lot of weight," the "Urban Legend" star shared to Billboard Magazine, "It means I have to eat every couple of hours and I'm terrible at eating a lot."
Warner Bros. announced in December that Leto would be taking on the role of the iconic bad guy in a supervillain movie, which confirmed some "Suicide Squad" cast rumors. He is joined by another A-lister, Will Smith, who is playing the lethal marksman Deadshot.
The "Thirty Seconds To Mars" vocalist also shared what drew him to this particular project.
"The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character -- that's what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right?" The method actor shared. "He's this beautiful disaster of a character -- what a big challenge."
In other "Suicide Squad" cast rumors, Jay Hernandez has been reported to be "in negotiations" to join the DC comic film adaptation.
Hernandez may not be as well-known as his fellow cast members (Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith and Viola Davis) but he has turned in quite a few memorable roles of his own.
The 37-year-old actor positively shone in films like "Crazy/ Beautiful," "World Trade Center," "Friday Night Lights," "Last Resort," and "Nashville." He was also cast in the Fox TV series "Gang Related."
There are talks that he may be playing a prison inmate along with the Jared Leto's "Joker" while additional "Suicide Squad" cast rumors peg him to be portraying the bad guy "El Diablo."
