Jeremy Lin's up and down season has been well documented, but on a night when the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to arrest a seven-game losing streak, the Taiwanese point guard relived "Linsanity."
The result? A 118-111 overtime win against the players in green.
Jeremy Lin had his best game as a Laker when he scored 25 points-many of which are "and-1" circus shots-and dished six assists along with one steal.
According to NBA.com, Byron Scott said that the rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics contributed to the team's energy on the floor.
"I still look at them as a team that we would love to beat - probably more than any other team in the league - just because of the rivalry that we had in the '80s," he said. "It was probably the best rivalry in all of sports at that particular time. ... You're talking about two of the best franchises in all of sports."
He also said that bringing back the Lakers-Boston rivalry will be good for the league.
"I think the NBA wants to see both these franchises get back to where they used to be. I don't think those guys in the locker room and probably the guys in Boston's locker room understand the history of the rivalry between these two franchises and how great a rivalry it was," he said. "And that's unfortunate."
Boston coach Brad Stevens credited Linsanity for the win.
"Jeremy Lin killed us the whole night. He was really effective in a lot of ways - not only scoring the ball, but also getting into the paint and making plays for others," he said.
But Byron Scott had cautioned that Jeremy Lin's season has always been erratic, where he seems to be the reincarnation of Linsanity in one game (just like in the win over Boston Celtics), and then be totally lost in the next game.
Jeremy Lin averages 10.5 points and 4.9 assists even if it's a far cry during the Linsanity era when he averaged 24.6 points and 9.2 assists per game as a starter with the New York Knicks.
