Good news Rihanna fans, the super-talented singer just debuted a new song called "Towards the Sun" for DreamWorks Animations' forthcoming movie, "Home."
The track was the lead single from the soundtrack set of for the upcoming animated movie, "Home," which is based on children's sci-fi novel "The True Meaning of Smekday." The "Home" movie also features songs by Jennifer Lopez, Charli XCX and Kiesza. According to E! News, the movie also allows J-Lo to voice one of the characters.
According to Fanlala, "Home" is a 3d animated comedy that revolves around an outcast little alien Oh (Jim Parsons) who teams up with with a human named Tip, which is voiced by "Pon De Replay" singer Rihanna. Featuring a children's choir, Rihanna's recent work is very different from her collaboration with Paul McCartney and Kanyne West that continues to climb the charts. Rihanna surprised fans when her new single leaked earlier than expected.
Lopez provided one of the songs titled, "Feel the Light" on the soundtrack for this Dreamworks upcoming project. The song has a heart warming feel to it and will get people even more excited to check out "Home" when it hits the theaters on March 27.
Contrary to RiRi's darker recent albums, "Towards the Sun" shows a more optimistic and brighter side of the singer. RollingStone noted that this is Rihanna's second song for 2015 following "FourFiveSeconds," in which she collaborated with rapper West and McCartney. The song will appear on Rihanna as well West's new albums. According to RollingStone, new LPs are reportedly due from both artists.
Variety noted that Rihanna is set to create an entire concept album based on DreamWorks Animation's upcoming project, "Home." DreamWorks Animation chief, Jeffery Katzenberg announced the news during DWA's fourth quarter and full earning results on Tuesday, Feb. 24; however, RollingStone noted that there is no word on whether that will be the film's actual soundtrack.
Tim Johnson, who served as the director of DreamWorks' "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas," "Over the Hedge" and Antz is set to helm "Home."
The film is not Rihanna's first crack at acting. RiRi had a cameo in "Annie" remake and she also played herself in "This Is the End" (2013) and "Bring It On: All or Nothing" (2006). RiRi had a role in "Battleship" alongside Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson and Taylor Kitsch.
