Good news smartphone fans, Motorola has taken its last year's Moto E a step further as it announced the 2nd-gen Moto E is now available.
Motorola announced the launch as well as immediate availability of the much-awaited super budget second-gen Moto E, dropping a major bombshell just before Mobile World Congress 2015.
According to TechCrunch, the new Moto E is an apt choice for people who wants a capable device, sporting a nice design without burning a hole in their pockets. Motorola's latest Android smartphone Moto E is priced at $149 (off-contract). Besides featuring an awe-inspiring design that offers numerous ways of customization and attention to detail, Moto E packs the quad-core processor that seems to handle Lollipop's various UI animations quiet well. However, users accustomed to Retina or similar type screens, may not find it easy to get used to the low-resolution display.
In addition, Moto E boasts a 5 megapixel camera, although enhanced from the original thanks to AF, it's still not a photo competition winner, particularly in low-light or indoor shooting situations.
That said, AnandTech notes that 2015 edition of the Moto E is indeed a pretty hefty upgrade of a phone launched just nine months ago. Moto E is basically a bigger, more powerful version of its predecessor; however it retains the same rounded plastic design. The overall body of the second-gen Moto E is enlarged to house the larger 4.5" screen. Motorola has repeated it's 2014 swappable back covers, with the new version featuring the ability to swap in one of the company's newer grip shells. Alternatively, the phone's colored bands can be changed separately.
Motorola revealed on its blog that the new Moto E is now available with 4G LTE speed, front facing camera, the latest Android software i.e. Lollipop. According to Motorola Blog, the company for the first time brings personalized software experience that it introduced with Moto X to Motorola's most affordable device. Not only that, the 2nd gen Moto E features a 2,390 mAh battery that is designed to last in one full day.
The new Moto E is packed with premium Moto experiences such as Moto Display for notifications and updates with no interruptions and Moto Migrate to instantly transfer contacts, photos and videos to your new phone.
Motorola announced on its blog that starting Feb. 25, the new Moto E will begin rolling out in more than 50 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe as well as Asia. It will be available unlocked in the United States for $119.99 (3G) and $149.99 (LTE).
