Ryan Gosling is so in love with his daughter, Esmeralda, that Eva Mendes' boyfriend inked her name in his left hand.

According to E! News, the 34-year-old was spotted in Los Feliz in LA as he was heading to his car.

The photograph showed Eva Mendes' boyfriend dressed in a leather jacket over a hoodie and a white shirt. Tattooed on his four fingers were the letters "E.S.M.E."

It's not clear however if the letters are etched permanently in his fingers or they are just pen marks.

"The scruffy star kept his head down under a baseball cap while leaving Little Dom's restaurant with a folder," it said.

When Eva Mendes graced the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Dec. 3, she talked about her and Ryan Gosling's adjustment on the arrival of baby Esmeralda.

"You know we're getting the hang of it, the sleeping thing, but yeah I'm exhausted and it's the best...Really, I'm so incredibly tired. I thought I was tired before at times, but no. Nothing like this, but I wouldn't have it any other way," she added.

"Ryan sings to the baby. He loves it. Sometimes he'll make up his own songs and include her name in them. It's very sweet," a source told E!

According to E! Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes chose the name Esmeralda Amada because it means "beautiful emerald" in Spanish.

"Additionally, Mendes wanted first and middle names that represented her Hispanic heritage since their daughter has Gosling's surname."

There are other meanings to the name Amada because it also can be translated as "adored" or "beloved." It's also the name that Eva Mendes played in "We Own the Night" in 2007.

In another report from Mirror, Ryan Gosling had said back in 2007 that an ink should never mean anything, "because at a certain point you're going to hate it, and it might as well make you laugh."

It's safe to say that baby Esmeralda's name on Ryan Gosling's knuckles won't make the actor hate the tattoo.
