The French actress Marion Cotillard takes another role, not on a movie, but as a climate change advocate.
The "Two Days, One Night" actress with French President Francois Hollande arrived in the Philippines on Feb. 26 Thursday for a two-day visit.
The local site Inquirer reported that Cotillard, the spokesperson for Greenpeace, is on a mission to fight against climate change, wherein she said: "We want to share our thoughts on the issues of climate change, it's not just the climate change but the survival of the millions of people on this planet."
The actress also added that the Philippines is one of the countries that must do something on climate change.
Reports suggest that the Philippines is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, suffering the impacts of extreme weather events.
The 39-year-old actress visited Guiuan, Eastern Samar, one of the affected areas by the Super Typhoon Haiyan hit in 2013, in which, one of the strongest reported tropical cyclones, reports Philippine Star.
Cotillard was joined by French actress Melanie Laurent and the two interacted with the people in the community and walked from the public market to the Guiuan East Central elementary school.
The "Two Days, One Night" actress said that people they visited needs help from the international community.
"The general feeling besides the fact that people here are so nice, is that we didn't see anyone who consider themselves as a victim, but more as survivors that need to face a new climate and need the help of the international community," she said.
Cotillard also added that the she is proud that her country France has joined a partnership with the Philippines in advocating the impact of climate change.
The "Two Days, One Night" actress-songwriter is kn also known for her roles in "Inception," and "La Vie en Rose," which she received an Oscar for Best Actress.
Other movies in which she appeared are "Nine," "A Very Long Engagement," "The Immigrant," and "Rust and Bone."
