Marvel fans rejoice as two new characters will be joining Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 2, along with a returning guest character in the new Episode 12 preview.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 2 returns with a brand new episode titled "Aftershock" which aired on Monday, March 3 in ABC. The episode features the aftermath of Coulson's team after they have discovered the ancient city of the Inhumans and Skye's transformation from the Terrigenesis.
ComicBook.com has reported that a new trailer for Episode 12 has been revealed, and it features guest stars Jamie Alexander as the Asgardian warrior Lady Sif, along with a sneak peak of Skye's new powers.
If the new trailer wasn't enough, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" star Jeremy Renner hinted a possibility of Hawkeye casting in the TV series, during an interview with Screenrant, as Renner was interested to explore more about his character and hopes that the showrunners from "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." could grant his request.
"I think there was talk of having some of the guys go up and jump onto the TV show. I remember them mentioning something about that. Um, again, there has to be a good rhyme or reason for it, and, you know, I like the character enough and anything to do to explore him more, I’m always open to it, ’cause he’s obviously not had a franchise of his own to really deeply explore really who Hawkeye is," Renner said to Screenrant. "And, yeah, I’ve always liked to explore the guy more. He’s interesting character to me."
Screenrant further asked Renner on how Hawkeye is dealing with fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. in season 1 knowing that he was a huge part of the organization.
"Yeah, you know, for me, my take on it is, it’s probably a good thing. He’s kind of a loner anyway. And he’s a team player, only ’cause he sort of has to be. He’s not really a company man. You know what I mean? Cap I guess can be that guy. Hawkeye’s on his own court," Renner said.
Renner further adds saying, "Again, a lot’ll be revealed with a few simple scenes. You’ll understand why he is and thinks the way he thinks. But, yeah, S.H.I.E.L.D., I don’t think, was ever really that important to him. Fury’s awesome. He likes Fury and will do anything for him, but a company man is just not him. He doesn’t punch in and punch out."
Cinemablend previously reported that Hawkeye along with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) are being considered by showrunners to guest star in season 2.
Lastly, there are rumors that certain HYDRA villain will show up in the series as ComicBook.com allegedly reports that HYDRA's leader Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker will likely appear in the show.
The website pointed the reason of a possible appearance when they spotted Henry Goodman's character Dr. Levy in "Aftershock". Dr. Levy was first cited in the end credits of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" as an operative of Baron Strucker. Perhaps this could mean a tie-up to upcoming "Avengers 2" movie, and fans would like to see how Strucker would play out against Coulson's team in the future.
