Good news gaming fans as Sony announced the release date of its VR head gear "Project Morpheus," along with its new features and possible price range in the market.

According to PC Pro, Sony has unveiled the updated version of Project Morpheus during the Game Developers Conference 2015 in March 4, 2015 along with other VR head gears like the Oculus rift and the HTC Vive.

PC Pro further revealed that Project Morpheus will launch on the early months of 2016, although Sony did not specify any date.

Gamerant reports that Sony also unveiled several new features and specs for Project Morpheus. The VR headset is equipped with a 5.7″ OLED display with a 1920 x RGB x 1020 resolution, while PC Pro claims that it has a Full HD 1080p LCD display with a 960 x 1080 resolution.

Project Morpheus' main body is a black curved visor with white and has a LED-illuminated edging which is held on with a strap that goes all the way round the head. It's equipped with a little cap extending from the top of its visor that holds it properly. The sensor on its back is very bulky but its lighter and more comfortable than the other VR head gears as the slit at the bottom of the player's field allows for more light bleeding, which reduces any motion sickness.

According to BBC News, Project Morpheus can now handle graphics at 120 frames per second, which trumps the 90fps of the HTC Vive head gear.

PC Pro quoted "the headset itself connects to a PlayStation 4, which processes the games and streams them to the device. There's also a separate, smaller box that connects to the PS4 to handle the nuts and bolts of rendering fully-immersive 3D."

Gamerant reports that SCE Worldwide President Shuhei Yoshida stated that the new Morpheus headset is easier to put on and take off due to its new headband design and a quick-release button. The display can also be removed separately from the headband while its latest support system puts the weight on the top of gamers’ heads, relieving the pressure on their faces. Yoshida also commented on the improvements made for the Project Morpheus since last year's GDC event.

"A year ago, we were hear at GDC to unveil Project Morpheus," Yoshida said "And for the last year we all have seen the VR world explode. More people than ever have tried VR at a variety of events... this increased consumer exposure to VR has been very important."

He also adds that Sony has spent a year fixing the head gear due to the feedback it received from gaming fans in 2014.

"We want to deliver a VR experience that lives up to our vision," Yoshida explained.

As for the price range, PC Pro reports that Project Morpheus will cost around £200 ( $306.82 USD) to £300 ( $460.16 USD).
